All settings correct; why no sound when text arrives?

iPhone 13 Mini, Silent Mode switch OFF, Ringer And Alerts volume on Maximum, Ringtone and Text Tone both set to Ascending, my contact's Ringtone also set to Ascending. Since about 2 days ago, I no longer get any sound when they text me. I haven't changed ANYTHING. What did Apple change, and how do we fix it?

There's a glitch in iOS 15.2.1 that does this sometimes. It mutes a conversation, and the only hint it leaves that this has happened is a tiny, faint icon, which is NOT shown when you're receiving, reading, writing or sending texts; it's visible only if you go back to the Messages home page. It's another Apple "feature."
