AirPod Pro microphone too sensitive

I’ve had a couple of AirPod Pro earbuds and the chief complaint I have is the way the microphone blows out the ears of the person I am having a phone conversation with. Literally the sound of anything that I am doing at the same time, like washing dishes, getting cutlery from a drawer, the noise of cars, trams, trucks, doors closing, appliances running etc is amplified to the person at the other end of the call. It blows their ears out and the number of complaints I’ve had is large.

These are noise cancelling headphones so between the headphones and the audio logic in the iPhone I find it hard to believe that Apple can’t do something to limit the background noise and just focus on my voice. I know that in WhatsApp you CAN do this, you can turn on a setting that has WhatsApp just focus on my voice, not the background noise.

I’ve looked long and hard and I can’t find a way to do this in the settings for the AirPods on my phone, either before I make a call or while I’m in a call. If there is a setting I’d LOVE to know about it.

If there isn’t a setting, this is a serious fail for the AirPod Pro. Apple, are you listening? Or is that noise cancellation feature stopping this message from getting through.

Some External Links to Try:

If Apple cannot fix these, then try troubleshooting these on your own. That may be the fix here.

IMPORTANT:

Back Up First: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the troubleshooting. Here are the links:

Provide Apple Feedback:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with you feedback on this. These are just user-to-usr forums. If its been occurring for quite sometime, yet it has never been fixed, then apparently, it is not being reported. You can report it to Apple., letting them know what is going on here. They won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what fixes need to be made.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on when the issue began, and how you have troubleshot it thus far.
  4. Proceed from there aw necessary

Thank you to TheLittles for those links, it looks very encouraging, however I have tried many times to update the firmware for my AirPods Pro and they refuse to update. They stubbornly stay on version 4C165.

I've read many other discussion threads now that report they are unable to get the firmware upgrade to run. There are loads of articles on the web that report that getting the upgrade to run is a very much hit and miss affair. It is illogical that a user can't initiate the upgrade, as a user experience that is appalling.

Come on Apple, you have the ability to fix this. Please make it happen. These AirPods Pro cost a fortune and the experience is underwhelming.
