That prompt can sometimes appear the first time you connect the iPhone to the Mac, and you can select either option that applies to your device. If you don't want to set it up as a new device, you can select the back up option.
Here is a list of tasks you can complete when your iPhone is connected to your Mac:

Backing up your iPhone to your Mac works in a similar way you might create an iCloud Backup. It simply makes a copy of the data on your device. Backing up your iPhone to your Mac takes up some storage space, but you can delete old or unwanted iOS backups.
The resources below explain more about backing up to your Mac, and how to locate and delete iOS backups:
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with your Mac

Have a great rest of your day or evening.
Erin_B11,
My last reply was not clear, sorry for that. What I mean is I have 2 options when I connect my iPhone with a cable: 1- set up as new device or 2- Restore from this back up... My iPhone is already set up, so configure as new device is not what I want. If I select "Restore from this back up...", I don't know what happens than. I don't even know what back up that is...
Thanks!
Have a great day.
Thank you for your reply Erin, I will look at it. I didn’t know what the next step would be if I chose to go on with a backup option.
