my Microsoft Excel needed to be updated. In Apple Store. I got a message sayingI have already purchased some of the Office 365Apps. Yet my Excel is in the READ ONLY mode. I cannot do anything with the EXCEL files. What should I do to resume my EXCEL and WORD usage?

Look into the Free LibreOffice, it handles MS Office files like Word & Excel, & Page Layout…
We cannot answer your question because it is a question of which version of Excel has been purchased and installed vs. which version is now needed. Presumably, you now need to pay Microsoft for an upgrade to the latest version of Excel or Office. You need to work this out with Microsoft.
