Iphone Erase

Hello, Community!

Wanted to clarify a question. A few days back i transferred all data on my new iPhone from my very old iPhone 8, after which the iPhone offered erasing all data to sell the iPhone which i did. After the restart i booted it up and quickly checked under General, that it shows 0 photos, videos etc on the phone so i thought that all went well and everything is wiped. Now a few days after, after logging in to my iCloud, i noticed that the iPhone 8 is still being active and shows on my Cloud. How could it be? It should have been deleted from my iCloud once i performed the erasing of all data. Is there a possibility that the iCloud still stayed open even after erasing the iPhone and the new owner of the phone still has access to it and can retrieve my data? I have high doubts but could it be so?

Again, photos were all deleted, apps as well, everything seemed to went fine.

Thanks in advance!

Erasing all data and settings doesn’t automatically remove the device from your iCloud account. If you sold the device to another person you must manually remove the device from your iCloud account so that the device will be free of Activation Lock to allow the new user to use it with their Apple ID. If you sold the device, or are planning to sell it, I recommend going into your iCloud account and removing the device from your account.

If the device is still attached to your iCloud account then the new owner will encounter Activation Lock and the device will be useless to them until it is removed from your iCloud account. I must add that you should not give them your iCloud credentials if they ask for them, rather you need to remove the device manually from your end.

I remember getting a pop-up message that iCloud would be removed and entering the password to approve the startup of erasing data. Removed it manually and haven't heard from the person who bought the phone about issues setting the device up.

Main concern was about any possible data leaks, but i guess then that is not possible.

Thanks a lot!
