File Sharing

I've setup a new mac Mini with MacOS Monterey 12.2 (but had this problem before at customer site).

when I connect via SMB file sharing with two different sharing only accounts and one user changes the name of a file (doesn't seems to happen with a folder) the on the other user the name changes to a ? and the file becomes zero bytes. reconnecting solves the problem but that's no usable solution.

Also when the first user adds a tag it does not show on the second user.

Hello Marc De Blanck,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! We understand you're having trouble with file sharing.

It looks like no one has responded to your question. Here are a couple things that might help others answer your question:

  1. Does this occur only with this occur with only one user?
  2. Does this occur with different file types or a just a specific file type?
  3. Does this occur when you create a new user account to test in?

Hey,

As it seems now it was resolved when i used a second user on my Mac!

So I removed the preferences from my user an up until now all seems fine.

Now i'm trying to get back the prefs I need and hope the problem stays away

As for your info

1) It seemed to only happen on my Mac

2) any type of file had the same problem

3) seems to solve the issue

Kind Regards
