screen passcode not working

I have a iphone X, updated to iOS 15.3 on Sunday and changed my passcode after it was installed. Also have Face ID of course. I have several times been locked out of my phone since then since it says the passcode is not correct. I have also tried my old passcode, same story. I know the new one is correct.

What are my options? I have backed up the phone to icloud, latest was yesterday. If I wipe the phone and reinstall everything from my backup does that remove the passcode or is it also stored in my backup?

Sorry to hear you're having the passcode issue. The good news is that you have a recent backup and that by restoring your iPhone you will also erase the passcode.

If you follow the steps outlined here, you shouldn't have any more problems: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306

Just wanted to say I did a complete reinstall yesterday and after downloading my backup even most of my logged in apps worked. Very few needed logging into again. And the issue with my passcode was solved. Cudos for this!

One thing that did happen was that I tried to enter a passcode that had one digit repeated 3 times ie 123444 and that was not accepted and so I had to revert to my previous code. No biggie.

And last when I updated to 15.3 on Sunday (from 15.2.1) I did it over my wifi ie it was not connected to iTunes. This time I had to connect it to iTunes.

So, I do not know if either of these 2 reasons caused my problem but at least it is fixed now.
