IMAP error

I get the following error message when I am on any wifi other than my personal wifi, " Connections to the server “p32-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out."

I have edited in Mail preferences the server information: used both IMAP and Smtp configurations.

My IT folks blame the MacOs settings

Oddly Exchange on my Mac mail works fine.

iOS mail on iPhone 12 works fine.

Home wifi connection to server works fine

iCloud.com works fine.

I have removed the mail and calendar accounts, and reinstalled them on MacBook and MacDesktop

I have run DiscUtility with no fixes.

Hey eewpa,

We understand you're receiving a Mail app error when accessing it through any Wi-Fi network except your on. Are you experiencing this with multiple email accounts?

We suggest you review this article to ensure the other Wi-Fi networks meet the recommended settings: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.

If you continue to get the message, test in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac. It can help figure out if the issue is related to software that loads when the Mac is booting up. If there is no issue in safe mode, restart the normally and see if issue is resolved.

Take care

Thank you. I tried all the suggestions, I can connect to Exchanger server fine. My ethernet (Mac desktop) and wireless (MacBook Pro) work fine. But any mail other than Exchange accounts works fine. Now my iPhone Mac Mail does not connect unless I use cellular.

But iCloud mail still not connecting, and Mail Connection Doctor indicates the following: "Could not connect to the IMAP server. Check your network connection an you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use TLS/SSL" checkbox in the Server settings tab of Account Preferences."

Since Apple seems to set all the Mac mail permissions when I delete Mac mail from Accounts and reinstall it, this error statement is hard for me to follow. I cannot check or use TLS/SSL checkbox in the server settings.

I will ask my IT folks if somehow IMAP connections are blocked (they hate Macs, and set answer is,"we don't support Macs")

I am a reasonably knowledgeable tech user, since I help students and faculty trouble shoot issues with Macs and PC.
