How to delete part of back-ups (email) from I-Cloud?

I used to receive my email on my I-Phone 7 and it immediately filled up my I-Cloud storage on the first back-up after I enabled it. I wish to Delete it so my phone can be backed up again and I don't believe it is advantageous to tie up the storage on their servers either, how do I delete it?

Email is not part of an iCloud backup. Emails live on the servers of the hosting service. In the case of Apple iCloud email, that email is stored in your iCloud storage allocation. If those emails are filling your available storage, you either need to subscribe for more storage, or delete emails to free up iCloud storage space.

But again, email is not part of an iCloud backup so there is nothing to be done with the backup settings if iCloud email is filling up your storage allotment.
