TV Show Folder

How do I change the tags for multiple files at a time or is there any software to convert the files into a folder that iTunes and Apple TV recognizes?

For example; I have 10 MP4 files of a TV Show season that ripped from DVD and how I know, to do individually change the tag for a file and reach the solution. But it takes too much time.

iTunes changing media type to TV Programmes I have some TV shows in MP4 format (ripped from DVDs I own). If I import them to iTunes it puts them into the Films/Home Video section. If I edit them to be of type “TV Programmes” that works fine, they move to TV Programmes. However, if I copy those files to another computer and import them into iTunes, they go back into Home Videos. That type is obviously not be changed inside the .mp4. It’s must be a iTunes’ own database, not taken from the tags inside the video. The same is not true of other metadata, like title, episode, genre. If I edit those the edit is obviously being updated inside the mp4, because if I move the mp4 to a new computer and import them, the other tags are remembered, it’s just the media type that is forgotten. Is there a way of embedding the media type into the mp4? Perhaps a 3rd party utility? Or is iTunes doomed to always put it back into Home Videos?

How to add tags to self imported films in Apple TV app on macOS? f ExiI just discovered the Apple TV.app on my new Mini(2013). Looks like a useful app, but I have a problem: Apple TV allows to import self recorded films. After import it shows the headers for Cast, Directors, Screenwriters and Producers but I cannot find a way to add this information. In films bought at Apple these tags were filled already. I tried to use 'exiftool', but these tags cannot be written if not already available. Exiftool says that these tags are from directory "Plist - XML"... but which Plist? Has anybody an idea how to complete this information on self imported films? Regards - Matthias

large music collection Music app and tag fields i have a relatively large collection of albums and songs. invested over the years and the majority of it is unprotected aac and some mp3 as well as aiff files. i spent a lot of time organizing, sorting, renaming and redoing tag info for the music collection in order to line it up with my plex media server. but i also want to sync the collection to my ios devices so i have it imported into the macOS Music library. in short, after i am done tagging and organizing everything, i want to lock all the media content as read only files (every song file), to prevent unintentional or unacknowledged changes to tag info. i have noticed over the years that several useless tag fields are present in older music files, many of them starting with “ITUNES…”, url fields, copyright fields, etc. mostly junk ! if i make all my music files read only will i have issues in the Music app with playback ?

You should be able to select multiple files, get info, and set all common properties in one step.

You can then select the first item of the group, make the episode specific changes, and use the next/last arrows to step through the rest of the items.
