Depending on what you do with the features available, if you choose

to customize them; there can be most anything on your desktop. Your

choices include folders of any images; of your own, or view another's..

One of my favorites years ago in an older Mac ~ was a screenshot of the same desktop.

That was good since I didn't want to totally secure the computer. And it got

attention of a few who wanted to look further, or tamper with my Mac(s).

It did nothing at all. The Clock appeared stopped, too. Like it could..

If there were a graphics problem: the screen appeared fully frozen.

A view of System Preferences in my High Sierra/Late 2012 Mac mini quad-server:

..One of the only Macs I bought new, had "freeze-issue" caused by RAM upgrade,

at AASP. ~ And there were no official Apple retail stores in my state, back then.

Under warranty and extended AppleCare, I could not open up my own Mac..

[So the incorrect memory chips caused the iMac to fully freeze. ~ But I could predict

that feature; since I lived 200+ miles from AASP in Anchorage, & I needed it to work.

Took six months & 850 miles before they figured out I was right +just do what I said.]

Screensavers? Just another choice of desktop; in still-frame or video.
