I have the new iPhone 13 Pro Max, which came with the new cable which doesn’t have a USB connector, I use portable chargers when camping, days out etc. Is there a cable with the C type adapter one end and a USB connector the other end? Or an adapter. I brought one but the USB is way to big to fit in my charging dock!

Again, it is a USB connector ... just not a type A which was used in the past. Yes, alternatively, instead of getting a USB-C-to-A adapter, you can just get the older Lightning-to-USB-A cable from Apple (or other sources.)

It does have a USB connector. However, it is a USB-C, not USB-A type. The other end is a Lightning connector. It's this latter connector that fits into the iPhone.
yes the lightning port into my phone but the other end that fits into a charging plug or portable charger is a C-Type not a USB that fits into my portable charger! As it needs a USB connector. Just have to buy a normal lead from Apple!
Yes, there are adapters available but if you have some older Lightning to USB-A cables lying around use those.
