Who to get rid of the numerous email boxes at bottom circled.

Hi, can anyone tell me how to get rid of the line of numerous email boxes that ive circled at the bottom please? After a lot of research I still cannot find the answer and it’s annoying me somewhat as there is nothing to say delete this box or a cross to tick to delete it. I used to do command and M to bring them up and close them completely but since going to iOS 15 there is no longer that option.

Thanks everyone in advance.

The iPadOS15 multitasking environment permits you to run multiple “instances” of the same App, such as Mail - with each instance, perhaps having a different open inbox.

For example, if you have three running instances of Mail, tapping the icon you describe will open the shelf with three thumbnails - each corresponding to each running instance of Mail. Simply tapping a thumbnail will switch directly to that running instance of the Mail App.  Simply swiping an individual thumbnail off the top of the screen will close the associated window/instance.
