i have a mac book pro which is about 7 years old the model is Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1911) i need it updated but i am not seeing or recieveing any updates as my system is a bit out dated could you advise me in this situation please
Looks like you can go to Mojave. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683
If you click on Apple logo top left Overview and give the name and year of your MacBook Pro instead of the software you are using, then we can help you.
