internet mail access protocol.
it's using an email address/password/connection type to configure an email with an email server thats setup for imap.
what are you trying to do?

start with the simple stuff:
what device are you trying to use to get your mail?
what specific mail app are you using?
does the account work on other computers with that password?
when did the account stop working on that device or is this the first time you ever tried to use it?
can not read my email this imap password comes on & do not recognize my passwords
remove all emails from the iphones & reinstall them seems they work now
