My printer will not go out of idle. Tried everything

My HP Laserjet 1320 printer stays in idle mode. I have tried everything from unplugging it, resetting the printer, uninstalling it and installing it again. Nothing helps.

Please describe the process you used for resetting the printing system, I suspect you might be doing somthing else. Please refer to:

  1. Find the Apple menu icon and click on it.
  2. Go to System Preferences.
  3. Open Printers & Scanners.
  4. Control-click or right-click on the List of devices on the left side of the window.
  5. Select to Reset printing system by clicking the option.
  6. When prompted, click Reset and confirm the move to reset the entire printing system on your Mac.

That did not work. I finally went to to Utube and was able to KINDA solve it thru there so now it is working for the time being. However I still get a yellow sign with and exclamation point at the bottom of the printer when it pops up in my dock to print stating that I need to install software to use this printer. To install the software, choose App Store… from the Apple menu. If the software for your printer isn’t available in App Store…, contact the manufacturer of your printer. So I went to the App store there is nothing there for my HP Laserjet 1320 printer and I went to the HP website and there is nothing there for my printer as well. So I don't really understand why my printer is working but it is. What I did to rectify the problem was:

to remove driver so I went to Go, then connect to folder, then put in /library/printers/ Go click and drag ad delete all printers in the trash and then restart my computer.....printer worked....My question is was the driver removed or not? Can a printer work without that and why do I still get the yellow sign when I print?
