CANT FIND UPDATES FOR MT LION

I reset my Mac book air and now its running OS X mt lion.10.8.5 can I upgrade it to Catalina or Monterey. I can't find anything in the app store

if not what can I upgrade it to??

PLEASE HELP

After upgrading to Ventura successfully, my version still shows Monterey 12.6.2 I went through the entire upgrade process to Ventura. There were no error messages and it eventually rebooted and is working. But the version number still read Monterey. Is this just a bug in the Mac About page or did I not upgrade? Btw, I only upgraded the OS and not Safari. Does Apple force you to upgrade Safari too?

Mac stuck on checking for updates while updating macOS I'm trying update my 2017 iMac to Big Sur 11.6.4 from Big Sur 11.6.3 and all I get is a spinning wheel in "checking for updates". Is there any way to fix this [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and click on El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave, or Catalina. It can't be upgraded past that.

Catalina and newer won't run 32-bit software; download and use Go64 to scan for it. To check other programs, click here and look them up.
