my fan runs continuously…..screen is black….no startup

If the fans are running it sounds like the Mac is booted ...(?)

If the cap light comes on when toggled, then it is on.

You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.

Force Shut down your Mac.

Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac

If your Mac doesn't start up all the way

If it is a display issue, you can test this by plugging into an external monitor to test.
