Unstable desktop

I have two monitors with five desktops on monitor 1 (1-5) and five on monitor 2 (6-10).

Before this incident apps were where they belonged as were backgrounds.

I played a youtube video on one desktop (#2) and tried to alter the background image on the other monitor (#1) when suddenly I noticed that top bar was missing all together. I figured I would simply reboot and get it back since I was not able to do it by hand (new to Mac).

After the reboot I no longer have a working shortcut for desktop 10. (Keyboard mission control says ^0 should switch to desktop 10. I've checked all other shortcuts and none is conflicting.)

And I still have the email program (Thunderbird) end up on one of the first five desktops on monitor 1 when coming back from the screen saver. Very annoying to not have a stable desktop environment!

Desktop 1 tends to also change to some different Apple background than what I choose.

I would try simplifying this situation...

Start with one Desktop and test, two Desktops and test your results...
