Calendar alert sound cannot be changed on both my iPhones

I've tried changing from settings, rebooting the phone, but my iPhone still won't change the "opening" alert to whatever sound alert I have chosen. Any ideas how to solve this?

I just tried this on my old iPhone X. It plays the same sound: "opening." And it did not change even when I switched to a different alert sound.d

I have the same problem with my iPhone 13 and latest version of IOS. After many hours and days working with Apple Support trying every suggestion several times, I was finally told it’s a known problem that the Apple engineers will work on and hope to fix in a future IOS update. Suggestion to Apple Support: if you won’t publish known problems publicly, please at least publish information that your phone support team can access to save everyone from wasting time and effort.

I also have the same problem on my iPhone 11. After spending several weeks of texting with Apple support that told me that "it's a known problem the Apple engineers will work on and hope to fix in a future IOS update" I finally just turned off all notifications. I'm going to use the google calendar app for notifications until Apple is finally able to fix it

Problem with calendar alert tone not changing to my choice of tones has been corrected for me. Solution required restoring all settings to factory defaults. I first backed up the phone to iCloud and to my PC to be safe, but did NOT use either backup. My data and installed applications were retained after resetting to factory defaults and I just reapplied all my settings manually. Now I am able to change my calendar alert tone and did so several times to make sure it’s working correctly. Thanks to the Apple Store in Raleigh, NC for the suggestion to rebuild my iPhone 13 as new and NO THANKS to Apple Phone Support for wasting my time with other suggestions.

Same issue... I always say that most upgrades are a waste of time and there are always "downgrades" involved... and the engineers are not really that smart ! They love to play around with new emojis and other worthless features! They are people who could never build this great country that we all have freedom to live in and profit off from.

I’m having the same problem with my calendar alerts. So frustrating. Every sound I choose reverts back to the opening “ding” which is so quiet and quick I don’t hear it unless I have the volume is on Max! Trouble then is it scares me to death when my phone rings. The restore factory settings seems a little drastic but I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the tip.
