Forgot password

I’ve taken over my mothers ipad. She has forgotten her password for the Apple id. We have tried some passwords and now the Apple id is locked. My mother do not have an email, she’s an older lady and dosent use the iPad or the computer. I cant use my Apple id in her iPad because I cant log out thoug we don’t have the password. It’s a tricky situation! How do I continue?

If she is the original owner, contact Apple. Apple can remove the ID  if provided the required paperwork to include the original purchase receipt with the serial number on it.
