I went through (rather quickly) ALL of the posts and nobody said anything about what I'm going to say:

Go to:

1) Settings

2) Screen Time

3) (child account)

4) Downtime

5) type in your code

6) Set a schedule and at the bottom, click "Block at Downtime"

This will ensure that your child cannot ask for more time

You can also go to:

1) Settings

2) Screen Time

3) (child account)

4) App Limits

5) Add Limit

6) Select ALL (or certain apps) you'd like to limit

7) Tap Next

8) Set the Time Limit

9) Make sure "Black at End of Limit" is selected

10) Click Add

This will ensure that your child cannot ask for more time.

Hopefully this helps.

My daughter can spend hours looking at different webpages for "1 more minute" and playing each of her games for one minute. Please please Apple, disable the one more minute option! Otherwise we too will be forced to move to an android device.

To make it even harder, Apple has stopped the BARK kids app from being able to access the device without entering a password every few minutes. I'm getting desperate!

Thanks

My child is using his ipad for 3 or more hours a day because of the stupid "One more minute" feature. He has allocated time for all apps. But then he repeatedly presses One more minute on other apps and individual web site addresses: Youtube.com, Youtube.ca, Youtube.co.uk, Youtube.fr, etc. You get the idea. It's driving me crazy. I want to disable "One more minute".

I also want to manually put in how much longer he can use the device for. It's not ever just 15 min, 1 hour or all day. I want to manually put in 5 min, 10 min or 30 min, or whatever I want.

There is no control right now for parents. There are SO many loopholes. But out of all the loopholes, this one is the most frustrating and seems to me to be the easiest to change.

The app limits function is consistently temperamental and frequently does not work. I have tried so many things to fix this including following the many instructions posted to various threads, watched numerous YouTube videos, followed the instructions on the Apple website, installed the latest iOS software on my phone and that of my child’s. It is so irritating.

My settings have been like this for a long time and my child keeps doing the One More Minute thing, and all apps limits are set to "Block at the end." I mean, the apps do block at the end but he keeps doing one more minute for other things, I don't know what else to do. Meanwhile, my other 2 kids have Chromebooks, so easy to manage... not even fair how much Android kicked Apple's behind on the simplicity for parents to manage screen time for their children.

Yes! Amen, all my kids phones live downstairs day or night for accountability on many levels. It did mean we had to buy them traditional alarm clocks, but so much better for them! If they sneak them, they lose them altogether unless there is a specific time I want/need them to have them. If during that time they still do something they shouldn’t, the length of the consequence resets. Trying to help them develop good habits and self control, but app limits can even be helpful for some of us adults at time with these addicting screens!

You sound like a great parent!

I agree that the app limits don't always seem to work the way they should, but one has to work with what one has.
