"This system cannot play this protected movie" Error

I just received an error that states "This system cannot play this protected movie." on at least 3 movies I've purchased through iTunes or Apple TV+. I've re-authorized my Macbook Pro and bought all the movies (Crazy Rich Asians, How to be Single & Pitch Perfect) through apple so I am confused why I am unable to play only select content that I've already purchased.

Hi nae_sam,

It sounds like you are unable to play purchased movies on your Mac. We can help with this.

You mentioned that you purchased and downloaded this movie, was this done in iTunes? If so, are you using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase the movie originally? If you are using a different Apple ID, keep in mind that content is linked to the Apple ID that was used to complete the purchase and other Apple IDs will not show as authorized to play the content. If you are using the same Apple ID used to purchase the movies, you can Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple.

If this movie was purchased and downloaded from somewhere other than iTunes, we'd recommend contacting the company that you purchased the movie from to see if any additional steps are required.

We hope this helps.

Take care!
