Siri slow for smart plug response

Siri is fast (enough) for most things but, on the smart plugs I have, it lags a lot.

Alexa, which I used for many years, was fast for smart plug response (still is, I have a couple non smart speaker devices with Alexa in them).

Assuming since, Alexa works great (in .25 seconds, the plug is triggered after the N in on is said or the F in off) — but Siri can take 3-9 seconds to do the same (and, unlike Alexa, insists on saying OK and Done) — I can only conclude, it is something wrong with Siri or; I have some setting wrong to cause this lag?

Maybe that forced confirmation by Siri (also very much off timing — the light will often be off a second or too then Siri says done or even, OK then Done!) is causing the lag. Can I turn that off too?
