When I take a screen shot (using Big Sur), it is not saved to my desktop but it generates an email. How do I make it save to my desktop?

Press shift+command+5. This will put the Screen Shot interface in the lower left corner of your screen. Click on its Options menu and change Mail to Desktop. Press the Esc key to dismiss the interface. Subsequent screenshots will now go to your Desktop.
