Weak wifi range/delayed failover to cellular on Apple Watch Series 7

I've wondered why this is. Coming from a Series 6 cellular (aluminum, my Series 7 is stainless steel), that was seamless when it needed to hand off or cellular. There is a considerable delay in switching on my Series 7. This happens at home, I haven't tried/seen it happen elsewhere. My home network environment is stable and has not changed.

The use case is to ask Siri to perform home automations when wearing the watch and not being close to my iPhone. Both devices are up to date on iOS and Watch OS respectively.

If that happened to me, I would check the cellular signal strength perceived by my Apple Watch as shown here.

When the watch is connected to cellular, I get 3 out of 4 dots. But I don't think the cellular is causing the issue. For example, to test, I turned off my iPhone. It took about 20 seconds to switch to cellular.

With the Apple Watch Series 6, I was able to walk around my home (about 3000sq ft) and the watch stayed on wifi 99% of the time, and the switch to cellular was not noticeable.

With the 7 I'm lucky to get halfway through the house before the wifi drops, then takes about 20 seconds to connect to cellular.
