no sound

in sound preferences output the only option is digital out , optical digital out, I don't get any sound.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Check your Audio Midi Setup utility to make sure output is 16 bit 44.1 kHz or less.

Disconnect all external audio devices.

Make sure any external monitor isn't trying to take over audio.
