iMac stuck in Recovery Assistant

For some reason my iMac is stuck on the Recovery Assistant / Reset Password page. When I switch my iMac on it goes to this page every time but it is not connecting the mouse or the keyboard so I cannot select any of the options. Is there a way that I can get out of this page and boot normally?

If you have a Magic Keyboard, plug it into your iMac using the supplied charging cord.

If not, then you will need to round up a USB keyboard and mouse in order to move forward.

FWIW most any generic, Logitech, PC or Apple USB keyboard and mouse will work with your iMac.
