Apple tv 4K Gen 2 keeps selecting tv speakers instead of sonos beam one's

I have an gen 2 ATV 4K with an LG CX oled tv and a sonos beam gen 1 with two sonos one's.

CEC enabled on my LG tv and eARC off (tried on also). With my Shield tv pro and xbox series x everything works like a charm. Both devices uses the sonos speakers instead of the tv speakers. Last month i bought an Gen 2 ATV 4K and it keeps selecting my tv speakers.

I use the following settings.

Video and audio:

Audio output - can not change it. It says "tv speakers"

Audio Format - Auto

Audio mode - Auto

Remote and devices

Control TV's and Recievers - ON

Volume control - TV via IR. Tried auto there but thats not working at all.

The strangest thing is,... When i power on my ATV the sound is on the tv speakers. When i open the settings menu and "remote and Devices" i see the Control TV's and Recievers and Volume control settings change and then i got the sound on the sonos. Without doing anything.. Just opening the settings menu.

What am i missing or doing wrong??? with the nvidia shield it works like a charm so its not the sonos or TV i think.

0n the sonos app i have installed my TV

Use IR enabled

and enabled " play automatic on TV

Tell me what i'm doing wrong or missing

Yes - I'm saying that you should not force the Sonos to use IR. It would be necessary only if your TV was connected to the Sonos with an optical cable, but the TV and ATV4K can control the Sonos Volume via HDMI CEC (it should default to ON, but if the Sonos setup has a switch for HDMI CEC, enable it).

On your LG TV's settings, make sure that Connections > Device Connection Settings > SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) is turned on. I also have Auto Device Detection and Auto Power Sync turned on.

With the Sonos and LG configured this way, your ATV4K & remote should just work with Control TVs and Receivers = On and Volume Control = Auto [displaying what's up]

After all this, you may need to reset & re-pair your remote... See this: If your Apple TV remote isn't working - Apple Support.

How is your Sonos Beam connected to your LG TV? I would connect the Sonos to the HDMI [e]ARC port of the TV. Configure the TV to use the Sonos Beam via [e]ARC by default, and the ATV4K will come along for the ride (and control the Sonos volume via HDMI CEC per the TV's Sonos connection).

It sounds like you're connecting the ATV to the Sonos via AirPlay, and the ATV4K will only talk to AirPlay speakers temporarily (though it treats HomePods as a special case :-). I suspect that the Shield & Xbox are more flexible in Sonos support.

Your gen-1 Sonos Beam has an additional HDMI port - try connecting the ATV4K to that in order to remove the TV/eARC from the mix (at least as a troubleshooting experiment).

Also, while I don't have Sonos equipment and don't know the value of the Sonos app for webOS (on your TV), I'm suspicious of your choice to use IR for any reason when your TV and the ATV4K can control the Sonos volume and power via HDMI CEC. This may be confusing the TV and the ATV4K device.

My setup includes an ATV4K connected to an HDMI input on a Sony soundbar, which in turn is connected to the ARC-enabled HDMI port of an LG TV with it's audio output set to HDMI ARC. The ATV4K automatically controls volume on the "Receiver" (soundbar) via HDMI CEC unless I tell the TV to use its internal speakers, in which case the ATV4K automatically starts controlling the TV's speakers via IR.

The other reason to ditch IR control of the gen-1 beam in favor of HDMI CEC is that the soft remote on your iPhone/iPad will be able to adjust volume too.

And after two days its back to not working again 😞

it worked like a charm for two days and from this morning its not working again. Need to open the settings remote menu and then it changes automatically to “auto hdmi” on it own. And now everytime i come back from sleep mode i have to open the settings menu to get it back working 🤬

I suspect that your TV and the Sonos are not powering off & on (or "sleeping" and "waking") in unison and the ATV4K is getting mixed signals about the sound setup it's connected to.

In your LG TV's settings, make sure that not only Connections > Device Connection Settings > SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) is turned on, but also Auto Device Detection and Auto Power Sync (for full & proper operation of the ATV Remote). If there're any advanced Sonos settings to behave in the same way... you know.
