has anyone had problems getting the meter to show up the myvmeter plugin

I downloaded the myvmeter plugin for GarageBand I shows up in the details window but the actual meter does not show up in the control I just get dials. Has this happened to anyone? I can't figure out how to get my Vu meter to actually show up. Thanks for any help.
