2 Issues 1 -while editing and working on a 4GB project with multiple music videos the visual location pointer gets choppy and then catches up.
2 -occasionally iMove will not close down. The only way to close is with Force Quit.

You may just need to reset/delete preferences. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
