Hi there, I tried connecting my new 3rd gen airpods but was saying i needed to update to ios 12 so i did and it keeps going to update assistant or something about target disk mode. when i restart and shut down it just keeps going to 30 minutes left to update but once it gets to 18 minutes it goes to encouraging target disk mode. someone help please, i’ve only had it for 2 years brought brand new

If your MacBook year is 2014 or later then you can get macOS Monterey if it’s 2012 then you can get macOS Big Sur , go to the App Store in search type macOS Monterey if it’s 2014 or later or 2012 tyoe macOS Big Sur , when you see the macOS update button click on Get and follow all steps
Note. To pair AirPods 2 or pro and 3 generation needs macOS Big Sur or later
If you are using those AirPods in an iPhone ,iPad , iPod you don’t need to pair them to your MacBook because if the iCloud account from the iPhone it’s the same account in your MacBook the AirPods will be there already paired big requires macOS Big Sur or later that’s macOS Monterey
thankyou! i started downloading the monterey and that’s when it’s gotten stuck in this cycle of updating for 10 minutes and then going to update assistant and target disk mode
It will take awhile the updating don’t interrupt the process
