iPhone MagSafe charger getting very hot while not attached to phone.

Has anyone experienced a MagSafe iPhone charger that gets very hot even when a phone isn’t connected? Mine sat all day, went to place a phone on it and immediately dropped it it was so hot. The soft part of the puck was puffed up too and now the phone doesn’t sit flush. Genuine apple brick too.
