Im stuck trying to set a manual IP address on my iPad (OS 14.6) whilst using an Ethernet adapter.
the iPad recognises the presence of the adapter, but regardless of what data I add to the IP Address /Subnet and Router fields the ‘save’ option remains greyed out.
any reason why I’m not allowed to save a new manual address?
WiFi is not an option here.

I think I actually just worked out the problem .. I was typing the incorrect subnet address! I’d only added a single .0 at the end of the address instead of .0.0

Presumably you are using a third-party Ethernet adapter with your iPad. If so, you’ll need to seek assistance directly from the manufacturer - who, no doubt, will have technical support from which to (a) verify compatibility with your installed version of iOS/iPadOS, and (b) obtain technical guidance on setting-up and using their hardware.
Your IPv4 subnet requires four octets - such as 255.255.255.0 for a Class C subnet with 254 host addresses (allowing an additional one each for the network and broadcast address).
