New iPod Touch

I have two questions regarding my new device:

  1. When I tried to sync my music from the iTunes library, whilst it did work it told me that some 70 songs could not be synced because they could not be located, although they were clearly showing in the list. However, I could not play the songs for the same reason, so where have they gone? They were all on my old iPod Touch (which unfortunately died) and I played them all the time. I can't understand it at all.
  2. My old iPod paired successfully with my radio/cd player, however this one doesn't. Whilst the cd player tells me it's bluetooth ready, the iPod simply shows a star (?) going round in circles apparently searching for devices. It found the tv which was at the other side of the room, but not the iPod which was right in front of it!

If anyone can shed any light on these problems I would much appreciate it. Thank you.

To begin with, you should understand that songs are not "in iTunes". Instead, when you ask iTunes to play a song, or copy it to a portable device, iTunes looks for the file for that song, in the location on your computer that it was in when you added it to the Library.

So if songs cannot be located (by iTunes) then it will be because the original file for the song has been moved, renamed or deleted, or the path to the file has been moved, renamed, deleted or the drive to the file is not available.

So have you, or another programme, been doing housework that may have done any of the above? Regarding the drive not available issue, if the file was located on an external drive and you told iTunes to use that drive as the location (rather than copying the file to your computer) then that drive must be available to read before you start iTunes. If it isn't, then iTunes will not be able to find the file.

Regarding your car connection, although the car states "Bluetooth ready", is it in seek or visible mode? It needs to be one or the other so that the two devices can find each other. That visibility usually only stays active for approximately 30 seconds. After that, it turns off, based on the assumption that there are no devices for it to find.

Hi Carole81049,

We understand you need assistance with your new iPod. If the original music is located on an external drive or another computer, it will need to be added to your iTunes Library again. The following guide can provide more information, specifically the section "If a song no longer appears in iTunes":

Change where iTunes files are stored on PC

To pair your iPod with your radio/CD player, check out the steps in the following article:

Pair a third-party Bluetooth accessory with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.
