iCloud Drive

If I turn on iCloud Drive on my Mac, do the Documents and Desktop folders automatically upload to it, or do I get to choose which documents transfer?

Desktop & Documents is an option in Apple menu > System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud (in the sidebar) > iCloud Drive - Options.

If you turn on iCloud Drive but don't turn on the Desktop & Documents option, then only the files and folders that you place into the iCloud Drive folder will sync with iCloud. You access the iCloud Drive folder in Finder via the Finder sidebar or the Finder "Go" menu.
