Mac Mini M1 - Static on screen

I have a Mac Mini M1, on occasion is have an issue where when I "wake up" the system, the monitor displays a static screen. I typically have to wait several minutes let the computer sleep again, then on the next wake up it displays correctly. I've called Apple support multiple times, and while they are always very helpful and kind they haven't been able to correct the issue. I have a brand new hdmi cable that is 3' in length. Apple has offered for me to take the system to an apple store but there isn't one in my town and I can't be without the system for days if I were to ship it to them.

I saw an older thread on this topic but no guidance that I hadn't already taken so wanted to open a fresh discussion. Thanks in advance to the community.
