Old version of Prologic X

I have Catalina Version 10.15.7 I would like to get Pro-Logic X but cannot because I need Version 11. I just had my hard drive go bad and had to get a solid state but my hardware will not support Version 11 so I am screwed! I just paid a bundle not knowing all this for this new hard drive! What can I go now??

Hi, in theory (and practice not so long ago), one could use another Mac (running a newer macOS) to log into App Store with their AppleID to purchase Logic Pro without installing it on that 3rd party machine. Then go back to their own Mac log into App Store and install the software.

That being said, you should be able to do just that on another Mac running macOS Big Sur or Monterey. However, before you do that, it's a good idea to get in touch with Apple customer support and ask them whether you'll be able to download and install an earlier version of Logic after you make a purchase using this workaround.

Chances are, they will say no, because if that was possible it wouldn't make sense for Apple to restrict Logic Pro app availability only to the two most recent versions of macOS in the first place (a stupid policy to begin with, if you ask me). Alas, that's their prerogative as a corporation that wants to make even more money on top of its "yuuge" pile of cash and 1 trillion USD of market cap. But it doesn't hurt to ask. Perhaps, they will be able to clarify the situation for you.

And if they do, please make sure to get back here and report your findings. Cheers!
