I hope there’s some kind of update on this because it is ridiculous not to see if your headphones are connected without having to swipe down…. I don’t understand why it has to be this way

Let me rephrase my question. I’ve connected and paired my headphones, verified by looking in the Bluetooth section, BUT, the headphone icon doesn’t appear. Using iPhone 13 iOS 15.3.1 any suggestions?
Ok, just determined you have to swipe down from the top right corner to activate the control center to see headphone status icon. Unless in my opinion but it is what it is.
Thank you for the suggested ways to resolve my issue. I have power cycled my phone and have connected two different headphones/earbuds successfully hearing music but no headphone status icon appears. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing a setting, ie Status Bar Icon under Location to turn on before the icon appears.

Did you submit feedback telling Apple this?
Hello Sitoobu,
From your post it appears you are asking where you would see the headphone icon on an iPhone 13.
Status icons appear in the status bar. If the iPhone is paired to a set of Bluetooth headphones the icon will appear there.
Information on the status icons can be found here: Status icons and symbols on your iPhone - Apple Support
Have a good day.
Hello Sitoobu,
If the iPhone is showing that the headphones are paired under the Bluetooth settings, and are not indicating it in the status bar, we would start by power cycling the iPhone using these instructions: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. While simple, this can refresh the iOS, apps and connections.
We would also test the headphones with another device to confirm that they work as expected.
If you have any other headphones, pair them with the iPhone and see if the icon appears.
These tests should isolate exactly where the problem is originating and allow you to focus on a finding a solution.
Have a good day.
