iPad Air 4, notes, Apple Pencil, home bar is in the way

Hello, thank you for your time.

I have a new iPad Air 4, Apple Pencil 2, latest iOS (15.3). I use the Notes app with the Pencil the most, as this is a replacement for my Supernote A5X / Remarkable 2. The handwriting and colors are amazing, the automatic synchronization across multiple devices is perfect.

My biggest problem is that the home bar is in the way. The palm rejection is great…when my palm is on the screen. When I’m changing writing positions, if my wrist is anywhere close to the home bar, I’m suddenly in a new app or back to the Home Screen. This is inconsistent, but present in the worst times.

Can I ditch the home bar for an accessibility home button? Can I lock the home bar, so that when I tilt the screen it stays in one spot? I hoped that inverting the iPad would help, but no.

I would downgrade to the 2020 iPad, but it only supports Pencil 1.

Also, the IPad Air 4 is not in the available product list for these questions. “What device is this about?”
