I need to insert a series of png images into an audio file in imovie. When I try to do this, imovie inserts all of the images at the front of the audio file rather than at the desired point. How can I insert the images where they need to reside in the audio file?

Rich --

I have an audio track that consists of 9 clips of varying lengths, each separated from the following clip by10 seconds. You can see the first four clips in the image. In total, 12:14. I want to insert image breaks between the clips so that the user can stop the play for discussion.

When I attempt to insert an image, it always defaults to the far left of the timeline. I can't seem to insert the images at the appropriate point in the timeline. I've never had this issue before.

I've had to switch over to wondershare filmora because I can't seem to problem solve this issue.

Thanks for your help.

Your screen shot shows one long clip with spaces (no wave forms) to separate the different segments.

Put a black background into the timeline and drag out its edge so that it is as long as your audio clip. Insert you audio clip under it. Then insert your photos in the timeline above your black background. Now you can slide the photos to any place that you want in the timeline. You can also select the audio clip and do a Modify/Split clip and then separate the audio segments.

Sure. You can use white or any background color that you like. Just choose from the available backgrounds. The background will display in the preview screen until the playhead reaches the photo. In the below screenshot I used a red background, but you could use white if you wanted.

Select the images as a batch in the timeline and drag them to where you want them. To select as a batch, select the first image and then shift-select the last image. Then put your cursor on one of the selected photos and, while pressing down on your mouse/track pad, move the entire batch to the desired location.

If the above is not solving it, could you post a screen shot of your project screen to show what you are observing?

Yes, just to demonstrate a split option that you can use. You may not need to split the audio clip. You might just place the photo over the part where the waveforms are absent in the audio clip, and then pause the playback when the playhead reaches that place during playback.
