Self assigned ip

Home location is not selecting the USB with Ethernet because it says “Self assigned IP”. Connected but not to the Internet. I tried rebooting Xfinity cable modem. Any suggestions?

Apple AirPort Extreme Network Stopped Working After Xfinity Service Stoppage For years we had an Xfinity modem/router. We also had an Apple Airport Extreme (AAE) router connected to it. This served the needs of the five Macs and Apple TV in our home. In an effort to reduce Electro Magnetic Field (EMFs) through WiFi, we made some changes with WiFi availble through the Airport Utility when needed. After discussion with an Xfinity rep, we returned the Xfinity modem/router and purchased an Arris SB6183 modem (an approved Xfinity Modem) and a Linksys switch. Next, after working with an Apple rep, we hooked up the Arris modem and AAE. The ethernet out of the modem went into the bottom port of the AAE. Out of one of the upper ports of the AAE went an ethernet cable to the switch. Then all the computers had ehternet cables that went into the switch. AirPort Utility worked seemlessly. All worked well for over a week - until last Friday. Early Friday there was an Xfinity service outage in our area for much of the day. By later in the day, one of the computers had Internet access, but none of the other computers or Apple TV has internet. Also WiFi is not available from the AirPort Utility . The AAE is acting as if it has lost its configuration. It will not show the two green lights as it should. Only the uppper green light is lit. When I click on the AAE icon it say "Network: off." I have tried several hard resets with the AAE to no avail. We never had this kind of problem with the orginal Xfinity modem/router and we used it for years with several service outages. Any suggestions what to do? Thanks!

Airport dropping signal My AirPort/Time Machine appears to be dropping the internet signal. AirPort and the Motorola SB6190 are hardwired to my iMac. Periodically the signal just stops, but the modem is working fine and the green light on the AirPort remains on. Two Mac laptops and two iPhones use the wifi. I imagine it's possible that this is an ISP issue (Spectrum), but if so the modem lights and/or the AirPort light would indicate it as such. The AirPort must be from around 2012 (I'm guessing), possibly the same age as my iMac. Suggestions? Time for a new router and storage device? Thanks.

Maybe your Ethernet cable or adapter is damaged.
