Hey Stormy40,

If we understand correctly, you do not receive notification sounds for Calendar events. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting to solve this issue. Even though there is a chance that you've tried these steps already, we would recommend you follow every step and let us know if the issue persists.

Are these events created on the iPhone, or synced from another location?

Do you hear notification sounds for other apps?

  1. "Go to Settings  > Notifications > Calendar.
  2. Turn on Allow Notifications.
  3. Tap a type of event (for example, Upcoming Events), then choose how and where you want the notifications for those events to appear—for example, on the Lock Screen, in Notification Center, as banners at the top of the screen, with an alert sound, and so on."

Keep track of events in Calendar on iPhone

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need additional assistance.

Hey Stormy40,

Since this is isolated to the Calendar app and the other settings seem correct, one more thing you can do is to delete the Calendar app on the iPhone and then install it again and see if the issue persists.

"Delete a built-in app from your device

  1. On your iOS or iPadOS device, touch and hold the app.
  2. Tap Remove App.
  3. Tap Delete.

If you have an Apple Watch, deleting an app from your iPhone also deletes that app from your Apple Watch.

Restore a built-in app that you deleted

  1. On your iOS or iPadOS device, go to the App Store.
  2. Search for the app. Make sure that you use the exact name of the app.
  3. Tap
  4. A cloud with an arrow pointing down from within the cloud.
  5.  to restore the app.
  6. Wait for the app to restore, then open it from your Home Screen.

If you have an Apple Watch, restoring an app to your iPhone also restores that app to your Apple Watch."

Delete built-in Apple apps from the Home Screen on your iOS 14 or later or iPadOS device or Apple Watch

Cheers.

Hi mario49,

Thanks for the reply.

The events/birthdays are created on iPhone. I have no problem with other apps, I get sounds with Mail, messages etc. it just appears to be with calendar.

I have checked your steps of action and all is correct. Notifications is turned on, Lock Screen and banners is selected. There is a sound allocated, upcoming events is selected.

These actions have not changed anything. I have done a hard reset and still no alert tone

Hey Stormy40,

Thanks for the update. Let's get a little more information.

If you choose a different sound for the Calendar notification does it play that sound?

Are you using Focus or Do Not Disturb on the iPhone?

Change notification settings on iPhone

Turn a Focus on or off on iPhone

Have a nice day.
