Paying for app with Apple ID funds rather than credit card

I am part of family share on apple and it’s my father in laws credit card attached to account so I don’t want to pay with that. I found you could load gift cards to your Apple ID so I did this but now it won’t let me select to pay with Apple ID money it still wants me to pay with the credit card. Do I need to verify the card and then it will still charge to the Apple ID funds or am I missing something else?

Hey J_Hughes91,

It sounds like you're receiving an error about verifying payment.

It may be that your account needs to be verified. In some cases, requesting payment information is expected behavior even for free apps. Once your account is verified, you have the option to view how the charge will be made. Have a look at this article to learn how to update your payment information: Change, add, or remove Apple ID payment methods - Apple Support.

Have a great day.
