I want to slow down a recording. When i use the tempo track function and slow down from 120 bpm, the recording turns into small sections of sound with silent spaces between them, insread of slowing down the whole track. What should I do?

I want to slow down a recording. When I use the tempo track function and slow down from 120 bpm, the recording turns into small sections of sound with silent spaces between them, instead of slowing down the whole track. What should I do? I want to slow the recording down with no breaks in the sound. I used to be able o do this with older versions of GarageBand.
