Installing clearpass onguard agent on on monterey

Clearpass Wireless captive portal link to install the onguard agent fails to download the agent file. No error message or anything. Is this a security block? Where can I check the details? Is there a work around or settings change I can make to allow this to work?


The link seems to work on other OS and when connected via ethernet. Only fails on wireless upon first connection.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

You will need to contact your IT Department as OnGuard is an Aruba product with an IT managed backend. I also see various Aruba OnGuard release notes with various known issues for various versions of the OnGuard agent.


On your Mac you can check System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General to see if there's a pending item for OnGuard you might need to approve as well as any permissions required under Security & Privacy - Privacy tab.


You might need to right-click the OnGuard installer and click Open to override any warnings about not being signed by an Apple Developer or not being able to check if for malware (i.e. not being Notarized).


The IT Department might need to upgrade their Aruba OnGuard software, etc. to be compatible with later macOS versions.


It is possible that the IT Department didn't place the OnGuard download for macOS properly and the link is broken.

I will check System Preferences. However, It seems that I should get a message, popup or something if they MAC is not able to open a link. Once the OnGuard agent is downloaded over a wired connection or other means, it works fine.


Even the link in the captive portal works on a wired connection.


Somehow the connection is dropped after authentication on wireless and the download fails.
