Trackpad becomes unresponsive randomly on 12.2.1

Recently updated to Monterey 12.2.1 on a MB M1 Pro 16". From time to time, the trackpad on the laptop becomes unresponsive. It may then come back to life on its own, or it may require a reboot. I have an iPad running on the same wifi network, and 12.2.1 extends the use of the MB trackpad to the iPad. Is the problem with the trackpad related to that new feature?

On your M1 try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262 to sort anomalies.

Log in and test, reboot as normal and test
