Update iMac from 2012 version

My daughter has an i-Mac she bought for school back in 2012. The last time she used it was in 2013. Now she wants to use it but it hasn't been updated for 10 years. She's an artist and likes Apple for the programs she uses. It's only been used maybe 100 hrs. Is it possible to bring the software up-to-date so she can restore her files? For what price?

A Late 2012 iMac can be upgraded to 10.15 Catalina.

Apple software upgrades for iMac models that originally came with Lion or Mountain Lion are free.
