Hi,
If you are saying you purchased your iPhone from an Apple Retail Store; the original answer from earlier still applies if you financed your iPhone with your carrier. You will need to contact your carrier to have them unlock the iPhone for use with another carrier.
To explain why this is the case:
All iPhone models are manufactured and sold unlocked and SIM free. Apple does not lock any of their products.
The way the product becomes locked is how you choose to pay for it.
TO purchase an unlocked and SIM free iPhone, you would select the option ‘unlocked and SIM free’ upon checkout; in other words you pay the full retail price for that product when you purchase it. This would be unlocked due to you paying the full retail price..there is nothing that you owe on the iPhone.
When you upgrade your iPhone, add a line with your carrier, or purchase one just to purchase it; if you have device installments set up with the carrier, the iPhone is then locked to that carrier. Since you have your device installments set up with the carrier, the carrier also determines what the requirements are to become eligible to unlock the iPhone for use with another carrier.
Device installments are usually spread out over the course of 24-36 months; the full retail price of the iPhone is split up into monthly payments on your phone bill. Your average phone bill should include your plan fees, a line access fee, any other fees or services you may use, as well as your installment plan payment for the iPhone.
This is also why usually only the sales tax of the iPhone is due at checkout.
That being said, if you purchased your iPhone at full retail price, in other words, unlocked and sim free, you should see within Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock > No Sim Restrictions.
If you do not see that option, and instead see ‘Sim Locked’, this means your iPhone is locked to the carrier. You will need to contact the carrier for further support.
Hope this helps.
No. If it is locked to AT&T, only AT&T can unlock it. Contact them.
I got the iPhone from you’ll store would it be possible that you’ll can do that
No. This is a user to user forum. No one here or at Apple can do this. You need to do this yourself.
