The M1 MacBook Air (and earlier MacBook Air models as well) has a built-in fingerprint reader. Apple uses the terminology "Touch ID." See the following from MacBook Air - Technical Specifications - Apple

That depends greatly on the particular biometric authentication requirements here.
If Touch ID meets your requirements, great.
If not...
Though Apple does include Touch ID with MacBook Air M1 and that does perform biometric authentication, no traditional fingerprint-scanning device is included with MacBook Air M1 or any other Mac.
In particular, Touch ID doesn't export the fingerprint or related data anywhere that can be externally accessed and copied off the Mac. And the user can set or re-set the Touch ID fingers, which organizations requiring a traditional fingerprint scanner typically don't want to happen.
If you do require a more traditional fingerprint reader for your organization, then you'll need to acquire the hardware and any necessary app separately.
Or your apps can tie into Touch ID with the biometric APIs available from Apple for macOS:

Most organizations that require traditional external fingerprint scanners—past what Touch ID provides, and past apps integrated with Touch ID—will have apps listed with the requirements. Check with whoever in your IT support or IT security is requiring this, and ask for what is compatible and functional with the particular organizational authentication requirements and apps.
